Nakakapagod Mag-OJT

Akala ko dati madali lang. Mahirap pala. Buong araw may trabaho.

Ngayon may ubo't sipon pa ako.

Mahirap din ipag-sabay ang OJT at trabaho sa Sanggunian. linggo-linggo ay may meeting tuwing Lunes, 6-9PM. Next week, tatlong gabing magkakasunud-sunod. Sana kayanin ng katawan ko. Hindi pa naman ako sanay sa aircon.

Being Sick

When I arrived in AIM-TeaM Energy Center last Monday for my OJT, I suddenly contracted a cold. I thought that my nose just got irritated. Little did I know that it was the start of my sickness.

I left the center at around 3:30PM to go to Ateneo. I had a 4:30PM Sanggunian meeting. On my way to Ateneo, I felt a certain heaviness in my head.

After the meeting (at around 6:00PM), I already felt tired and weak. We had another meeting up to 9:00PM and I had to sit that one out for a while.

I've been in bed since yesterday and I hope I'll get well soon.

Things that Made Me Smile Today

1. I, together with STRAINS, facilitated the GDs for the Ateneo Junior Summer Seminar (AJSS). Among the 70 participants was Ella Montemayor. She was the only participant from my alma mater, Manila Science High School. After our 3 hour getting-to-know-you session, I approached her to ask a lot of questions about MaSci. I asked her if my name rings a bell, and to my surprise, she told me that she had heard about me from somewhere. Even though it's a vague recollection, it's good enough for me. Another funny bit of news that she told me (only my MaSci batch mates can understand this): si Amaca ay 1st year high school na sa Masci!.

2. May pretty girl sa AJSS. Povedan.

3. I finally got to talk to Ms. Pia.

4. I met two blockmates whom I miss so much - Kiwee and Joan.

5. According to a lot of people, they saw me in ABS-CBN's news flash. I was seen with other Ateneans in the BUSINA noise barrage in Katipunan. It was held from 6:00PM - 7:00PM in Gate 2.5 of Ateneo. It's the third time I was seen in TV this year - the first was during one of the first BUSINA noise barrages and the second time was when I hosted one of the segments in the Ayala Inter-faith Rally last February.

My First Talk on Leadership

I was with COA from April 6-8. On the second day, I gave a talk about my reflections on leadership. It was my first time to talk about leadership. It was my second time to be a resource speaker (the first one was about public education and the audience was the second year students of SOSS).

I wasn't really prepared for this talk. I used the concepts I learned in ASLA as my general outline and I gave short stories of how I made sense of these in my own life. It gave me an opportunity to look back at the life choices I made. It was a chance for me to say to myself that I am truly a leader.. Leadership is a grace. Those who are called to lead should be proud of this gift.

Sleepless Over Student Politics

I stumbled upon a video of the miting de avance of the DLSU student council last general elections (http://dlsu2008.multiply.com/video/item/7). I just met Nicole Villarojo (their new president) yesterday in UST (along with other student council presidents). I never thought that she could be that feisty.

This short video was a very revealing one for me. It's my first time to actually see and hear the mythical Tapat-Santugon rivalry. I can really say that they make Ignacio and Ibig-Agila look like the best of friends.

I found this blog (http://shale.wordpress.com/) that offered updates and opinions on the events surrounding the DLSU general elections. Looking at the electoral experience of other universities really excites me. Their experiences with their respective student councils can provide a benchmark for our own.

Talking to other student council presidents also gave me a revelation about the Ateneo student council (and organization) structure. I have already written about this in my post in http://omi4president.multiply.com/. Thinking about these issues of structure has kept me awake for some nights. I'll definitely be doing my research on this for months to come.
