Should I Spare the Rod?

With a few days left before the start of the summer semester (no, I am now taking summer classes because I failed a subject), I am left with the question of how to make the most out of the remaining days. Last Sunday, I made up my mind that I will devote this week to learning Python, reformatting my laptop, making the posters for Enta, and going to Church. Unfortunately, my 8-year old cousin is here with us and none of the mentioned tasks has been accomplished. Because of JC, my days have become shorter since half of the day is spent tending to his every desires and the other half is trying to discipline him. If you think an 8-year older is harmless. Think again! After only two days, this kid is already getting on my nerves. Don't blame me. I love kids, but not when they're naughty. NAUGHTY. The question is - Corporal Punishment?

Just finished watching Ely Buendia on Pipol. His words agreed with what I have always thought about the Electromagneticjam album - it's a great album but it came out too early. According to Ely buhay pa sila, binabaon na sila sa hukay.
I feel for Ely. We, the fans, just have to accept the fact that the Eraserheads days are long gone. But that doesn't mean we have to forget the legacy. I do agree that their music sing the song of our generation. But I also agree that we have to let the artist behind the music move on.

Yesterday was the Second
Yesterday (since it's already the 3rd), thanks to my Mom, I woke up at around 5:45AM. It's a bit too early for my body which is in vacation mode but since high school, I am already used to having just three hours of sleep. After a quick bath, my family, together with a at least five sacks of old clothes, drove to a house in Ayala Alabang wherein we had a rummage sale for the BLD Youth Ministry.
Upon arrival at the Pantoja residence, I was surprised to see at least six people who are already there. Obviously, word spread about our rummage sale which is actually the 2nd installment of a three (?) Sundays long sale. We immediately unloaded the saks of clothes and shoes and bags into the garage. As we pored the old clothes on top of what seems to be a bed without a matress which served as a make-shift platform, the customers (they were mostly helpers of the rich that saturated the village) immediately dug-in. More members of the youth ministry arrived as the morning wore on. There was a steady flow of customers by 9:00AM we already earned about 4K pesos. But as the morning went on, the searing heat kept the potential buyers inside their homes. The once steady influx turned into unevenly spaced coming and going of window shoppers.
The sale ended shortly after lunch. We were able to raise about 6K pesos. IT was a bit disappointing since the 1st installment yielded almost double the said sum. Yup, there is much money to be made in rummage sales. Zero capital = lotsa income. Makes me think if I can hold a rummage sale on my own to raise money for this.

I just came home from Kristine's debut. Grrr... I wish I had a digicam. I had fun but I was little tampo since Kris didn't included me in her 18 roses. Oh well... I still had fun though. The food was great and I was able to catch up with some of my good friends plus, we went ballroom dancing. Fuuuuuun!

My brother just arrived from their post-grad party. I was surprised that his teacher Mr. Tumaodos was the one driving the van that took him home. I never had the chance to be his student but since I was close to the whole faculty back then (elementary days), we engaged in a little chitchat before he left.
Wow! Pao now comes home after midnight. Welcome to college brotha!

Beat the Summer Boredom Package One

Getting tired of thinking of things to do? Have you come to a point in your life when you have watched all your DVDs (pirated of course), flipped through all the cable channels, creased all the spines of your paperbacks, visited all the surfable webpages, eaten all the food in your house, called all your long lost friends, suffered enough Lost/Desperate Housewives/Survivor marathons?
My friend you are not alone.
For the whole duration of the summer vacation, I will be offering PACKAGES to beat the summer boredom. public service kuno. In this first installment, I present the internet "think" games.
My Diamond Baby is another one of those Escape the Room game where you click your way through items, clues, and tasks. Think Crimson Room, Viridian Room, and White Chamber. But this one has a nice story line to it.
If room escaping is not your thing, maybe the good ol' browser riddle genre is. For the intellectually bored, we have Not Pr0n, Clever Waste of Time, God Tower, Frvade, and Dumb: The Game. Your task is to progress by finding out what is the URL of the next level. Hints are found throught the webpages such as the title, the picture, or by searching something in Google. Some level are very very tricky and you will often be tempted to cheat by searching Google for spoilers but solving a level of any of these games on your own gives such a profound feeling of satisfaction - something that tells you that you are not dumb.
More packages to come! Enjoy!

So unfair! Damn! Damn! Damn! Hindi ito makatarungan! Damn! When is my turn? When!?

A sure sign that humanity is down the pits: gluing your eyeballs to a show that plays with human emotions which inevitably ends up dehumanizing not only the people in it but also the people who actually enjoy the show. Throw in a dash of indirectly referring to the self as "the higher being" and characters of stealth wearing rubber shoes and you've got one of the highest ratings-grabber in primetime television.
People are people not lab rats. If you enjoy such a show, tell me how on earth can you enjoy such? I'll be waiting for your reply.

I need a digital camera. Now!

Congrats Bro! You finally finished high school. Now, it's time to say hi to the real world. I hope you're ready, 'cause I still aint.

Whoever's got my back is doing one heck of a job. Thank you.
