My Wisper Amidst the Noise

Dear God,

I praise and thank you for the gift of the year 2005. Truly, You have blessed me, my family, and friends with 365 days filled with joy, love, and maturity. Through Your abounding goodness, I have lived through yet another year in this world. I pray O Lord, that everything I have done during the year is pleasing to Your eyes. I hope that I have put to good use all that You have given me. May the person I am today be the person You wanted me to be by the end of 2005. If I fail to be that person, I am deeply sorry Lord for letting my frailty go against Your will. I ask that You forgive me for all my sins and my transgressions so that I may face the new year with a clean mind and a clean heart.

Almighty Father, as the year 2006 dawns in a few hours, I pray that You prepare me to meet another year full of hardships, trials, pains, and sorrows. I am fully aware that these are necessary aches for me to endure so that I may be pruned to the person that I am ought to be. I ask that you continue to be with us for we long for Your divine presence in our lives. Please provide for my family and friends. May their lives be filled with your grace. In this coming year, may I be a worthy servant in Your name so that others may see not I but Christ in me. I also lift up the whole of humanity. May Your light shine upon each and everyone of them so that only peace and love will reign in their hearts. May You also provide for their every need.

All these I ask and pray in the name of You Son, Jesus Christ.

Amen.

Can't Sleep

I'm feeling restless. It must be the weather, or the coughs, or the long test, or the loneliness, or the possible insomnia, or the longing, or the wondering, or the thinking, or the feeling.

I can't sleep.

Maybe I need a hug.

Maybe I'll just give a hug.

I hope it puts a smile on your face.

Are you thinking what I'm thinking? ;)

The Cowboy Look

There isn't much crap to tell today. I spent the whole day in Santuario de San Antonio in Forbes Park (the land of the rich and famous) for the BLD Family Day. Our F.E. class was the sponsor and we chose the cowboy theme (YEEHAA!). Months (or days spreadout into months) of preparations culminated into the 7-hour long program which included a mass and as usual, I played the role of the altar server (told 'ya I'm a good boy!). But this time, there's a slight twist. I was assigned to give 6 boys a crash course in altar service so that they could join me. So, as the whole working team is trying to set-up, I was briefing the kids (some were naughty but most of them were nice) on what to do. It was a piece of cake but it was my first time to give a crash course to the uninitiated. Nonetheless, the mass went on course, and so is the whole of the program. Not much to report there except the fact that the day didn't help my coughing fit.

Upon arriving home, I spent a good chunk of my time pumping wood (that's playing the yoyo for you). Nothing much there but same old pain in the middle finger and the moments of joy brought by completing the Chain Reaction - Barrel Rolls Combo.

On other news: the placebo effect is considered as one of the 13 things that do not make sense.

Do you stutter while you speak before an audience? WARNING: it may have a significant adverse impact on an individual’s quality of life and ability to participate in daily activities.

Are you a Super Mario Brothers Addict? Can you make Mario do the Moonwalk? Do you know about the -1 World? If you don't and if you play, be cool, read up.

Did you know that Mr. Potato head was the first toy to be advertised on television and that the Crayola Crayons are more than a hundred years old? Cool facts or just junk food for the brain? Doesn't matter.

Give me 3 good reasons to shave then I'll shave.

Am I Sick?

I think I'm getting sick. I have a bad cough and a bad cold. My left leg started to ache. I'm feeling a little warmer that the usual. But I have no headache. That's a good sign. I don't want to get sick. I got sick last year, during my birthday until Christmas and it wasn't fun. My last sickness was on June 19 and I had to cut class because I couldn't get up from bed. I hate getting sick. It's one of the worst feelings on Earth. I feel helpless and terrible. It's like being rendered useless by your own body. The mixture of syrupy snot and sticky phlegm isn't really my dream cocktail. I hope whatever I'm feeling is just temporary. I don't want to be in bed for the rest of my vacation, especially if the Physics121 LT is just around the bend.

Do you remember the Care Bears? For those who do, can you remember this Care Bear? He's my favorite.

For the nerds: here is a list of the Top 10 little-known science stories of 2005. My personal favorites are the Master Equation for All Life Processes and Why spaghetti does not break in half. They very interesting reads. Well that is if you're into those stuff.

Wednesday Funnies

Here's news from China. A Chinese photographer came under fire for taking pictures of a man falling off a bicycle. His "crime" was not telling the man about the pothole. He instead waited for people fall into danger. After some waiting, voila! A bitter-sweet photo of our sorry biker. The photog's defense is that he is helping the city by showing the government that there are still potholes in the road amidst the paving. Concerned citizen or just a guy trying to have a good time? You decide.

What's the News?

I just finished a conversation with a long-lost friend from highschool. Instinctively our first question to each other is, "Anong bago sa'yo?" (What's up with you?). I think for most people who haven't seen each other for a long time, this re-getting to know each other is the usual flow of conversation. In fact, this vacation I started to hear from old friends who greeted me either for my birthday and for Christmas. Some I last saw during my elementary years.

It's quite touching to know that there are still people who care for you after a long period of silence (I can't think of a better word!!!). It's nice to know that another soul remembers. Speaking of remembering, I remember another soul that remembered. I was sorta kinda touched when a digital friend (a friend I met in the internet and whose friendship is maintained through the internet) told me that he missed reading my blog. Another friend told me that because my blog is gathering dust, she no longer knows what's happening with dull, pitiful existence. Thus, I found it proper to rekindle the blogging drive in me by making this post. Senseless rambling this maybe, but at least you (the reader) can once again feel my radiating presence.

So what is up with me? I am currently sleepy and hungry and oily. I've been losing sleep faster than I can weight. My pimples are increasing by the day. I have a long test on Vector Analysis and Complex Numbers on the 7th of January. I have a blog to re-design. I have a flash presentation to make. I have a life to salvage. My goodness! My goodness! My goodness! By the way (BTW!), I have a cold and (a?) cough. That's life.

On other news: PLEASE BUY OUR SHIRTS. It's for a really really good cause. If you feel like it's inappropriate to wear a shirt that has the word leader in it and if you don't believe the cliche that inside everyone is a leader, it's ok! Buy the shirt not because you are a leader but because you believe that we are experiencing a great shortage in good leadership. If you're a rocker who wants to stick it to the man, THIS IS THE SHIRT FOR YOU! If you're a conyo boy or girl, BUY A SHIRT. Trust me, it looks good on you. If you're a nerd, GET A SHIRT because it was a nerd who designed it - me.

Betcha By Golly Wow! This shirt is for everyone! So what are you waiting for, buy now! Btw, thank you for those who already bought from me. Thank you very much.

Leader Be Light

The fourth batch of Ateneo Student Leader Assembly is currently selling t-shirts for the benefit of an upcoming leadership training seminar for public high schools. Of course, like anything, we need money to fund the week-long (I'm not sure with this detail) seminar.

*UPDATE*The proceeds will also go to helping two Pathways scholars.

We at ASLA believe that for our nation to rise from the hole it has dug itself into, leaders must rise up to the challenge. But these should not be just ordinary leaders, but men and women of a strong moral fiber and sound principles that would usher in a new age of prosperity and unity in our nation. Finding and honing the youth of today to be the future leaders of our great country is what we aim for. Thus, buying a shirt, will not only promote the call for better, more efficient leaders, you are also helping us mold future senators and presidents. No more IM-SORRYs and HELL-GARCIs. :)

The shirts come in two varieties. Black:

And white (front, back):

The price is PhP180 per shirt or PhP340 for 2 shirts. Such a small price for a noble cause. If you want to order one, just leave a comment or email me.
